In what should come as a surprise to no one, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday confirmed that RBI's new Rs. 2000 note has no GPS tracking chip.

"From where did you come to know this? I haven't heard of it," Jaitley replied when asked by a reporter if the new Rs. 2,000 note issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has a chip to enable its tracking via satellites.

That's official confirmation for something we already told you on Wednesday , dispelling rumours floating on WhatsApp and other social media that RBI's new Rs. 2000 notes have a 'near-field GPS' or NGC chip that will be used to track these notes.

The smartphone wars or smartphone patents licensing and litigation is an ongoing [ citation needed ] business battle by smartphone manufacturers including Sony Mobile , Google , Apple Inc. , Samsung , Microsoft , Nokia , Motorola , Huawei , LG Electronics , ZTE and HTC , among others, in patent litigation . The conflict is part of the wider "patent wars" between multinational technology and software corporations. The patent wars occured because a finished smartphone might involve hundreds of thousands of patents.

To secure and increase market share , companies granted a patent can sue to prevent competitors from using the methods the patent covers. Since 2010 the number of lawsuits, counter-suits, and trade complaints based on patents and designs in the market for smartphones, and devices based on smartphone OSes such as Android and iOS , has increased significantly.

Nokia has re-launched the 3310 , perhaps the most-loved phone in history. But it's not actually going to work in much of the world.

The phone was met with delight – including by The Independent's reviewer – when it was revealed Mobile World Congress, with Nokia showing off a phone that even improved the battery life on the old mobile . HMD Global, which now owns the Nokia brand, will sell it for just £40 and when it launches this summer.
